Saucer Summer Tour Part 11

Sunday, June 17th,  2012
Today we started the day with breakfast.  Then we went to 10am mass at our old church, St. Dominic’s.  After church we made a big spaghetti lunch and headed back to the beach at St. Andrew’s state park.  The parking lot was FULL so after driving around a bit, I dropped Chalane, the kids, and the gear off and found the last spot as far away as you could get from the boardwalk!!  We found a spot to plant the umbrella and enjoy another weather PERFECT day!!

After a few hours we got cleaned up and drove to Captain Anderson’s pier to catch the Dolphin Cruise.  Joey was asleep on my lap in less than 5 min.  He missed out on feeding the sea gulls Cheetos.  They are so trained for the boat they flock right to you and practically grab the Cheetos out of your hand!!  The kids were very excited to see the sea gulls catch the Cheetos in mid air.  When we got to the deeper water I woke Joey up to move to the front of the boat and watch for the dolphins.  We were very lucky tonight and saw 3 different pods.  They were all quite large and we saw 50+ different dolphins playing in the water!!  After the cruise we headed back for showers, dinner and bed time.  Tomorrow will be the first big driving day without Daddy.  We are headed to Nashville, TN to spend the night in route to the big stop with friends.

Pictures can bee seen here.

Old Maid in My Ear

Last week Alan said he put a popcorn seed in his ear at school. We took him to the pediatrician at the base and they tried to get it out with irrigation. While we were waiting for the referral my friend, Missy (a nurse), took him to her husband's office and tried to irrigate it out again. No luck so we had to wait for a referral to be approved to take him to a pediatric ENT. The closest one is in Pensacola and couldn't get him in until March 17th!! Again I called my friend Missy and asked for her recommendation on ENT doctors in town. She gave me her guy's name and I got on the phone with Tricare. It took lots of call transfers and time, but they could change the referral to Dr. Tran and he could get us in yesterday. Dr. Tran was unable to remove the popcorn seed in his office, but they could get Alan in for surgery first thing this morning to remove the seed. Here is where I learned that anything requiring anesthesia is called surgery. They were going to put Alan out so he...

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Well, I'm not sure what made me think I could sew. . . I thought sewing a santa suit wouldn't be too difficult if it was part of a "kit". The base playgroup was doing some Christmas pictures of the kids and I thought I could get the suit done in time to have Daniel take an early lunch and show up as Santa. Well this "kit" had very confusing directions. They may as well have been written in Japanese!!! After spending an entire 3hr naptime studying and attempting to cut out the pieces I was beyond frustrated and ready to cry. I ended up using my resources and sending out a very desperate email to EVERY email address I had for people that lived near me (there are some playgroup lists with emails of people I don't even know). Within 30 minutes a friend, Erin, from my MOPS group responded so I called her and she was able to help me figure out how to cut the pieces out correctly!!! Ok so the pieces are cut out, know what do I do!?! Well. yesterday I r...

Daniel's Surgery

It's 1:30am and been a very long day. Daniel's surgery was pushed back quite a bit today and we are just getting home from the hospital. The doctor gave us some neat pictures and I hope to get them along with all the details added to this post in the very near future. Thanks for all your prayers and please continue to pray for a speedy recovery. WARNING WARNING WARNING the following pictures are not for those of you with weak stomachs!!! Here is his Gall Bladder (everything here is normal) This next picture was explained with some big words. My teaching background kicked in so I rephrased what the doctor was telling me in words I could understand and he said I was understanding correctly. This is Daniel's colon an it should be able to move freely, but there is a spider web kind of forming around it trapping it. The doctor was able to cut it free. Here is Daniel's small intestine. It was getting caught up in the web as well, but the doctor was successful in freein...
