Happy Thanksgiving

I got the following poem on email and thought you all might enjoy it. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

T'was the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned -
The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation
With all of my might.

Tossing and turning
With anticipation,
The thought of a snack
Became infatuation.

So, I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling
So plump and so round,
'Til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding
And a handful of pie.

But I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees...
Happy eating to all -
Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes 'n gravy
Have nary a lump.

May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take the prize,
May your thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs.

May your Thanksgiving be blessed !!

High Speed Car Chase Ends on My Friend's Roof

Check out the news story on the web address below. I know the people that live in the 3rd house (the one the car landed on the roof of ending the high speed chase)

You will have to copy and paste the address to get the news story as I can't seem to make it work as a link. If you go to the video clip available the man they interview is my friend's husband and I'm not sure, but I think the gal is her daughter in law. They live next door to each other and about 10-15 miles from our house.

CEDAR GROVE, Fla. -- One man is dead after losing control of his car and crashing it into three houses.
Officials with the Panama City Police Department say it happened just after midnight Friday morning. A Cedar Grove police officer spotted a speeding Chevy Trailblazer at 15th Street and East Avenue.
The officer estimated the SUV was going over 100 mph and radioed that he was turning around to follow the driver south on East Avenue.
Panama City Police say the driver lost control of his vehicle after going over the railroad tracks, hitting several cars and damaging three houses in the 600 block before landing upside down on the roof of the third home.
According to police, Darryl Rogers, 24, of Panama City, was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was performed Friday. Police say they expect toxicology results in about two months

Thanksgiving Dinner

They served Thanksgiving Dinner at Alan's school on Friday. There are 900+ kids from PreK-5th grade AND their parents. It even tasted good!! I think they had lots of volunteers from the church that uses the Meritt Brown Middle School building next door to meet on Sundays. Here is a video clip of his class practicing their Indian song before we ate.

Milk Bank

The boys and I made another trip to Fed Ex to send a cooler of milk off to the Milk Bank in Raliegh, NC. Here is a picture of how we get everyone safely inside. Please note Joey's seat is usually hooked on my arm and not riding on the wagon. We had 595 ounces this time!!

FIRE!! FIRE!! cried the Wolf

It never fails that something exciting HAS to happen while Daniel is out of town. I awoke this morning to the screaming alarm of our smoke dector and actually smelled smoke. I don't think I've ever sprung from bed so fast. I started yelling for Alan and Eddie to wake up as I burst into their room to grab them from bed. I put them on their feet and ran for Joey with them by my side. Then I stopped and realized we didn't see any fire. With Joey in my arms and the boys clung to my side we went through the house room by room and closet by closet. We found nothing, but I could still smell this faint burning smell. I called Daniel's cell, no answer. Called his work cell, no answer. My cell rings and I can't get to it in time. Call him again, no answer. He finally gets ahold of us and I explain the situation. Check the computer to see if it's an electrical fire he says. I already checked all the rooms and stuff, but who knows. Then I realize yesterday was the first cold day and I turned the furnace on at bedtime. Then walking through the house you could smell the smell right under all the vents. "Sorry I woke you Daniel. Good luck on your presentation in a few hours." I put Joey back in his crib and Alan went right back to bed. Now I had to deal with Eddie who thought it should be time to get up for the day. We rocked in the chair and I offered his bed or daddy's. NO! he said. Okay then help mommy turn the computer off. He did and walking past his room decided he would go back to sleep in his Spider Man bed. This is really NOT a fun way to start your day!!! To top things off Alan's fever returned so he is home from school today and feeling lousy.

A Nuturing Brother

Alan and Eddie are still totally CRAZY about Joey!! Here is a video clip from this evening. Eddie took all his clothes off and was throwing a fit next to Joey on the floor. I picked Joey up and started to feed him. This made Eddie go nuts and scream louded. "I feed Joey" he exclaimed and kept grabbing at his nipple. It was extremely hard not to laugh. I did manage to grab the camera and get a short video clip for you.

The drama continued. . .

Halloween

This was the view from our front yard on Halloween morning. We headed out bright and early to attend the Halloween party at Alan's school. The kids, including Eddie, got into their costumes and we paraded around from classroom to classroom and office to office trick or treating. Eddie could hardly stand on his own two feet by the time we were done. Here is a picture of Ms. Young helping him down the stairs.

Joey got tuckered out as well. He is wearing a little pumpkin sleeper that Aunt Kathy gave me while I was in Greenbay. Her daughters, Laura and Sara wore it over 20 year ago!!!

I took the boys trick or treating by myself (Daniel was TDY) and we got way too much candy. I think Mommy will have to help them eat it all!! They had a blast and slept like rocks :P

Pumpkin Patch

We kept with our family tradition of going to the Pumpkin Patch in Clanton, AL with the Tucker family. I LOVE this tradition and hope to continue it for as long as possible. We met up with Chalane and her crew around 10am at the Grand 'Ole Pumpkin Patch and took some great family photos. Then we headed off to the pony rides and petting zoo. They also have an amazing sunflower field and real TeePee set up to play in. The kids had a great time running from TeePee to TeePee and playing. Then we had lunch and relaxed for a bit before the big event. We boarded the hay wagon and had a great ride to the actual Pumpkin Patch where they also have a HUGE pile of hay to jump and play in. The hay was so much fun we actually had to talk the kids into going out to find a pumpkin. The weather this year was BEAUTIFUL. It started out a bit chilly which really made it feel like fall, but by the time we were heading home is was "Sunny and 80"

Here are a couple pictures from this year. To see more just click on the link to the left called the NEW Saucer Family Website and you can see our Fall 2007 album.

The Return Trip

On Thursday, Oct. 25th Eddie, Joey and I got up at 1:30am to begin our travels home. We had just over an hours drive to the airport and had to check in at 3:30am for the 5am flight. Again we made it to our first stop and made the connection no problems. When the plan was getting ready to leave Minneapolis we had to sit at the gate to burn fuel as the plane was too heavy!! This delay was going to make for a very tight connection in Memphis. I was prepared. I called the 800 number to get the gate number loaded the boys and all our gear into the baby limo and we RAN (I mean I really RAN) through the airport. The plane was still there, but they had closed the doors 2 min ago and they wouldn't let us get on. The man (single and probably age 25 with NO kids) got a direct flight to Panama City. Cool this should be no problem. I get to the counter with 2 screaming kids and they want to re-route me through Atlanta!?! I looked at the lady and very calmly said there was no way I was gonna take my chances getting stuck in Atlanta with two screaming kids. There had to be 2 more seats available on the direct flight. She rolled her eyes and mustered up enough trouble to say, "I guess I can check" Like I was asking her a huge favor!!! Lo and behold there were seats and she could get me on the flight. She gave me 3 booklets and said they were meal vouchers. I opened them only to find a discount if I booked a future flight with Northwest. I shoved them in my folder and sat down to feed Joey and get at least one kid to stop screaming. I was successful as we found a toy motorcycle and lollipop as well so they were both quiet and we had 6 hrs to kill in the Memphis airport so I was in no hurry. We walked down every corridor possible and multiple times. One guy was trying to give away his meal vouchers. I just looked at him and said, "I have 3 of those and no idea how to get food with them." He showed me how to tear about the packet and the food vouchers were totally hidden inside. Cool now we had $30 in food vouchers to spend while we were killing time. First we went to a fast food place and I just ordered whatever we wanted thinking it wasn't my money. It came to $9.98 and the lady working the register was totally amazed as she said no one ever came that close to the $10 voucher amount. We ate and walked some more. A few hours later we went to Starbucks. I got the largest drink and 2 huge muffins as again, it wasn't my money. The total was $8.97. We had only an hour left to kill so I decided to take the boys to the gate to hang out. I visited with another passenger that missed the same connection as we did and he complained that they didn't even give him meal vouchers. I said no problem and gave him Joey's. He was very thanful and ran down to Starbucks himself. It was time to board and Eddie was getting very cranky since he had been awake sine 1:30am. He finally gave in a fell asleep on the flight. Good we were almost home. I had called and given Daniel the flight number so he and Alan should be there to meet us and then I should get a nap myself. Eddie was not happy to wake up when we landed and in fact he was yelling and screaming you would have thought I was totally abusing him. I was completely embarassed and searching for Daniel to rescue me. No luck. The computer showed that our flight never left so Daniel was taking Alan's buddy Aidain home and would come to the airport when he could. I lost it!!! Well all our bags and carseats made it so I loaded them on a cart and loaded the kids in the stroller with our carry ons. I pushed the stroller and pulled the cart and even managed to find the van in the parking lot as well as the spare key in the diaper bag. I got the car seats installed, kids buckled in (Eddie is still screaming at this point) threw the bags in the back and had to deal with no parking ticket in the visor. I paid the $16 bucks and couldn't wait to get home. Daniel calls to check in and I told him to head home and we would meet him there as I really am Super Mom and we were already on the road. When we pulled in the driveway it was all worth it for the hug and smile I got from Alan as he ran to me when I opened my door. Daniel brought stuff inside and had stopped to pick dinner up for us. I started unpacking and doing laundry immediately as we were leaving the next day on a road trip to Alabama in separate vehicles as Daniel had to continue on to Georgia for a TDY. I don't think I've ever slept so good!!
