Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

Well, I'm not sure what made me think I could sew. . . I thought sewing a santa suit wouldn't be too difficult if it was part of a "kit". The base playgroup was doing some Christmas pictures of the kids and I thought I could get the suit done in time to have Daniel take an early lunch and show up as Santa. Well this "kit" had very confusing directions. They may as well have been written in Japanese!!! After spending an entire 3hr naptime studying and attempting to cut out the pieces I was beyond frustrated and ready to cry. I ended up using my resources and sending out a very desperate email to EVERY email address I had for people that lived near me (there are some playgroup lists with emails of people I don't even know). Within 30 minutes a friend, Erin, from my MOPS group responded so I called her and she was able to help me figure out how to cut the pieces out correctly!!!

Ok so the pieces are cut out, know what do I do!?!

Well. yesterday I received another email from someone I've never met. You all know me. . . I picked up the phone and gave her a call. She happened to have the afternoon free so I invited myself over to her house. Well, I must say that I feel like I've known Stephanie forever and there must have been an angel involved in this very stressful santa suit deal. Stephanie has kids close to the same ages as Alan and Eddie so they kept each other and busy and we ALL had a GREAT time!!! The day was very successful and you can see the suit modeled below.

Which Saucer Boy is This??

Old Maid in My Ear

Last week Alan said he put a popcorn seed in his ear at school. We took him to the pediatrician at the base and they tried to get it out with irrigation. While we were waiting for the referral my friend, Missy (a nurse), took him to her husband's office and tried to irrigate it out again. No luck so we had to wait for a referral to be approved to take him to a pediatric ENT. The closest one is in Pensacola and couldn't get him in until March 17th!! Again I called my friend Missy and asked for her recommendation on ENT doctors in town. She gave me her guy's name and I got on the phone with Tricare. It took lots of call transfers and time, but they could change the referral to Dr. Tran and he could get us in yesterday. Dr. Tran was unable to remove the popcorn seed in his office, but they could get Alan in for surgery first thing this morning to remove the seed. Daniel's Surgery

It's 1:30am and been a very long day. Daniel's surgery was pushed back quite a bit today and we are just getting home from the hospital. The doctor gave us some neat pictures and I hope to get them along with all the details added to this post in the very near future.
