Alan Update

Alan has been a very busy bee. He started Kindergarten on the 20th!!!
Here is a picture with his teacher, Ms. Vann, on the first day of school.

Alan has been working very hard in Kindergarten. He even got his paper on the cupboard in the classroom. Ms. Vann was so proud of his attention to detail she hopes this will inspire Alan's classmates to work hard to get their papers on the cupboard as well. Here is a picture of Alan with Ms. Vann in front of his work.

Here is his first progress report on learning the classroom rules. If only he would apply them at home too!!!


Alan also turned the big 5 last week. He opted to have his best buddy Aidan over for a sleep over instead of a bunch of friends for just a BBQ. Daddy surprised him with a Burger King happy meal at school for lunch and he took Alan and Aidan to the Star Wars Clone Wars after school!! First Day of School Panic Attack

Okay so most of you know I'm not the emotional mom on the first day of school. Alan started First Grade today and today was DIFFERENT!! I don't know why it was so hard to hold back the tears as the school bus pulled away. I suspect it had something to do with the fact he was riding the bus and I wasn't leaving him in a classroom with a smiling teacher and lots of new friends. Another part of it was knowing he was going to a bare walled classroom with a SUBSTITUTE teacher until they hire a full time teacher for his class. Not The Best Time To Start Blogging

I Got Type 1 Diabetes         Monday, January 1, 2018   I went camping at Pupukea for Boy Scout winter camp. I was an SPL (the senior scout boy leader). My chest started to hurt with each move. I went to the nurse and she said it was only heartburn; she advised me to treat a heartburn you want to stay a from meats, eggs, cheese; any free carb foods; and eat foods like a bread, juices, milk; heavy carb foods; [all bad for a diabetic but we didn't know yet.] I went home a day earlier after the final fire bowl. The nurse and other medical professionals, at camp, told me all I needed was a hot shower and good night sleep because I was camping in the rain. When I came home and took a shower I couldn't even stand up. So my mom checked my blood sugar just to rule out that I wouldn't have diabetes. I was around 500. You should be 80-150. So, my mom rushed to Tripler (the big pink hospital) at 1:00 am because the hospital on Hickam is only a clinic for app...
