WAIT!!!

The word of the day today is WAIT. I am so incredibly proud of Eddie for his behavior today when you consider all the waiting the poor 2 yr old survived. We took Alan to school bright and early. Then it was off to the Dodge dealership to get the ABS checked out on the van. They said the diagnostic would take 1hr-1:15 Max. Well 2 hrs later they came to tell me a sensor needed to be replaced and it would only take 45min -1hr max. You can about guess how long that took. The kicker was that Joey had his 6 month check up at the base at 1pm and if you are late they contact Daddy's commander!!! We ended up spending over 4 hrs in the waiting area and for a 2 yr old Eddie did a great job!! I forgot to blog about the fact that we have been in potty training for the last 2.5 weeks and he seemed to enjoy getting me to take him to go potty then tell me it wasn't working. He has mastered STANDING at the toilet to pee and won't have anything to do with the potty chair. We have even worn underpants to bed and woke up dry!!! Now if only he would agree to sit down for #2. I was not wanting to deal with that today so of course anytime he looked like he might have to go we tried. One time I sat him down and turned my back for one second to check on Joey and Eddie actually fell in the toilet and got his shirt wet. This was about 10min after arriving at the dealership. Well I, of course, have clean underpants and sweatpants, BUT no shirts!!! He was very upset that his shirt was wet, especially since it was a Wiggles shirt. Another time he was sitting and didn't do #2,but ended up forgetting to aim down and sprayed his pants. We changed and then I prayed as I had no other clothes if he had a real accident.

We left the dealership with less than enough time to get to the base so I was stressed to say the least. I really ran out of patience when we had to stop and wait for a non-existant train!!! I called Daniel and totally let him know I just needed to vent so I wouldn't blow up at the doc appointment. I let off a bunch of steam and we made it to the base just in time. Again Eddie was great at waiting!!

Joey is the same size Alan was at 1yr!! He was just under 28 inches long and weighed in at a wopping 18lbs 8oz. It's so incredibly sad to be getting the tubs of 12 month and 18 month clothes out already.

After running through a fast food drive through we were home for less than an hour to eat lunch when it was time to get Alan so we could go to his speech appointment. For Eddie this meant yet another waiting room to endure!!! He has a crush on Miss Erica so this was a very long 30min as he wanted to go back with Alan. I am so glad to have arrangements made to stamp with a new friend tomorrow and there is NO place I have to go tomorrow!!!!

Old Maid in My Ear

Last week Alan said he put a popcorn seed in his ear at school. We took him to the pediatrician at the base and they tried to get it out with irrigation. While we were waiting for the referral my friend, Missy (a nurse), took him to her husband's office and tried to irrigate it out again. No luck so we had to wait for a referral to be approved to take him to a pediatric ENT. The closest one is in Pensacola and couldn't get him in until March 17th!! Again I called my friend Missy and asked for her recommendation on ENT doctors in town. She gave me her guy's name and I got on the phone with Tricare. It took lots of call transfers and time, but they could change the referral to Dr. Tran and he could get us in yesterday. Dr. Tran was unable to remove the popcorn seed in his office, but they could get Alan in for surgery first thing this morning to remove the seed. Here is where I learned that anything requiring anesthesia is called surgery. They were going to put Alan out so he...

Daniel's Surgery

It's 1:30am and been a very long day. Daniel's surgery was pushed back quite a bit today and we are just getting home from the hospital. The doctor gave us some neat pictures and I hope to get them along with all the details added to this post in the very near future. Thanks for all your prayers and please continue to pray for a speedy recovery. WARNING WARNING WARNING the following pictures are not for those of you with weak stomachs!!! Here is his Gall Bladder (everything here is normal) This next picture was explained with some big words. My teaching background kicked in so I rephrased what the doctor was telling me in words I could understand and he said I was understanding correctly. This is Daniel's colon an it should be able to move freely, but there is a spider web kind of forming around it trapping it. The doctor was able to cut it free. Here is Daniel's small intestine. It was getting caught up in the web as well, but the doctor was successful in freein...
